Nationals here I come!!! :)

I would like to thank everyone who helps me to get here. It’s been tough one – Hives, stomach problem and ER in regional and muscle issues and X-ray in sectional. Wish me luck in Nationals. πŸ™‚

  1. Yea! Glad to hear it. I saw your short program on Icenetwork.com. I wish you all the best!

  2. Looks like you had a hip injury at sectionals? What happened?

    • I don’t know what exactly caused it but whenever I lifted my left leg in certain position I got the sharp pain and I couldn’t continue my program at all. We had to go to see a doctor and take x-ray to make sure it’s not related to bone issue. Anyway, it turned out it had something to do with muscle. We took out couple moves from programs and I did OK for both programs. πŸ™‚ Now, I’m fully recovered and have no issues at all. Thank you for your concern! πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Karen! I competed against your little brother at sectionals. I felt so bad for him when he didn’t get high enough scores to beat my score. I thought he did a lot better than I did. Que sera I guess. My coach and I were watching your short program and were super impressed! You’re such a mature skater! I wish I was as good as you are. Oh, also I was on a practice with you in the morning before I skated! You’re so good!!! I really hope your hip gets better. I have knee problems but they’re not nearly as bad as what you have… I can’t wait to see you at nationals!!! I’m so excited for them!

    • Hi Billy, Congrats to you for earning yourself a trip to Nationals! Is it your first time? It’s harder to advance to Nationals now comparing to my time when I was in Juvenile and Intermediate level. You should be very proud of yourself. πŸ™‚
Jeffrey is all right. He put up his best performance during competition and has no regrets. He wanted to say “Congratulations!” to you, too. πŸ™‚
We hope you do well in Nationals!

      • Thank you for the compliments! I went to junior nationals two years ago at the juvenile level and got 36th I think. Then I took a year off because my knee injuries. I don’t really have any competitors in my region so that’s why I qualified for juniors in 2011. It’s great that Jeffrey is doing well. We’ll definitely have to watch out for him next year. I skating in San Jose good? I might have to move somewhere else to carry out my training for skating and San Jose would be an option due to my mom’s connections there.

      • There is only one indoor ice rink in San Jose – Sharks Ice at San Jose. It’s good and lots of good skaters skate there. πŸ™‚

  4. I’m seriously considering that. Our facility in Missoula offers two rinks. But, One of them is open eight months a year and the other is open six months a year. I can’t do jumps on public sessions because its a rule and the largest amount of ice time I can get in a week is about seven hours depending on the week. It’s probably a good idea for me to move if I want to start landing triples. Thanks for your help!

  5. wow do you have the video ? because I love watching you skate

  6. thank you

  7. Who tought u skating???? Are they a better skater than u???

    • My parents brought me to ice rink when I was 4 and we skated together for fun. After that I attended group lessons to learn basic moves. When I was more serious about skating, my parent found private lessons for me and Gilley Nicholson and Sherri Krahne-Thomas became my coaches.

  8. Will be watching on Ice Network today and cheering you on from Oregon! Good luck, Karen! πŸ™‚

    • Thanks so much! Becky.
The competition is done and I got 4th. πŸ™‚
I did my best already and am happy about it.

      • You skated beautifully and should be proud of yourself! We really enjoyed watching you! I have an 8-year-old daughter who skates pre-pre and is also into art, so she loves to watch you skate. Great job! Can’t wait to see you back next year! πŸ™‚

      • Thanks a lot for your kind words! I still remember when I skated pre-pre. Please say hi to her for me and best wishes to her skating and art. πŸ™‚
